Arkansas Graphics, Inc. (AGI) is expanding across the state with the acquisition of The Print Shop, a local printing company in Central Arkansas, as well as the design and print brokerage firm, Thriver Impressions. With these two new companies as part of the AGI family, customers can expect a natural expansion of their printing service offerings. This means new possibilities.
“Both acquisitions brought a diversification of services in-house that were previously being contracted out,” says Kevin Wilcox, President of AGI. “The purchase allows us to produce the smaller format and digital-oriented jobs more efficiently and quickly for our customers. [It also] allows us the opportunity to work directly with some great clients.”
Sustainable Growth
AGI is expanding in personnel as well, bringing on both Thriver Impression’s designer and customer representative. To make the move as smooth as possible, they are working closely with these employees to help transition their new clients, who have been dealing personally with their Thriver representative since the beginning.
Wilcox is especially excited about the addition of a new designer. “With two designers now on staff, it gives us not only a different creative perspective, but the ability to handle those design projects in a timelier manner,” he says. The previous owner of The Print Shop will also be joining AGI; now able to spend more time dealing directly with his customers and making sure AGI carries on the legacy of exemplary customer service.
So, What Is Changing?
The only change current Arkansas Graphics customers will see is the expanded list of available services. For previous customers of The Print Shop and Thriver Impressions, they will no longer be able to visit these locations. Both independent operations have closed and folded into the main AGI building near downtown Little Rock. Wilcox explains the logic behind the consolidation:
“To make sure we stay competitive, we try to keep our overhead to a minimum. It also helps build team cohesion when we all get to see each other every day.” In other words, lower costs for the company equals lower costs for the customer. It is a win-win situation!
What certainly will not be changing is all three companies’ dedication to each customer. “The service level will not change,” Wilcox promises. “But the number of items that Arkansas Graphics can help [customers] with has increased. We continue to add expertise in multiple arenas…all for the benefit of the client.” The new team is ready to impart their collective knowledge and passion to their newly expanded client lists.
Looking To the Future
When asked about what is next for AGI, Wilcox replies:
“We wish to continue to diversify our services and make doing business with us easier. This may include expanding into wide format printing or expanding our die cutting and finishing capabilities. Hopefully, it will also include easier ways to interact with us digitally so that we are really accessible to a client 24/7.”
Print is a medium that has changed radically in the past two decades alone, leaving several smaller format print shops struggling. However, Arkansas Graphics has encountered a demand for those same services, which encouraged them to expand their capabilities to meet customer needs. Wilcox is also looking forward to the increasingly digitized landscape of printing:
“While customers still realize print and other physical promotional items are needed, that doesn’t mean they can’t store their collateral and other materials on the cloud and order it as needed through digital means. Expertise in providing this digital interface can lead to all sorts of other opportunities that are not print-related.”
